I have a huge passion around seeing coaches be successful in their business. I believe that the work we do as coaches is so important that I have helped create two programs to support coaches.
The first is the Public Speaking SIG for Coach University. The mission of the SIG is to support coaches in building their business through public speaking. Five years into it, I can see that this group is making a significant contribution to the success of coaches around the world.
Second is the Mastery in Coaching Series, currently being produced by Coach U. If you are a student in Coach U's Advanced Coaching Program, you have access to several taped sessions of Master Certified Coaches with clients whom they have not previously coached. It's a great example of various coaching styles and focuses strongly on the ICF's core competencies.
In 2004, I was awarded the Professional Mentor Coach designation from Coach U. A big bonus of being a part of this team is that we have monthly training sessions that keep us updated on the latest mentoring techniques as well as updated information about certification processes.
In collaborating with my mentees, we've developed a unique approach to mentor coaching which includes:
Focus on Core Competencies:
The International Coach Federation has set forth an amazing description of the core competencies every coach can rely on to be effective in their work. In our mentor coaching, we will focus on isolating and identifying these competencies as they naturally occur in our coaching sessions. This is "just in time" coaching at it's finest! For a copy of the competencies and a description of what it takes to achieve the first level of certification, ACC, click here.
In addition, each month you will have the option of taping a session with a client for me to listen to and provide written feedback. Depending on which certification you aspire to, I will need to listen to at least two and as many as six of your coaching sessions.
Focus on Personal Foundation:
Since it's inception, one of the cornerstone programs at Coach U is Personal Foundation. I am a huge fan of the program, having seen the meaningful changes it can create in someone's life. I was honored to be a part of the team of coaches that updated and revised the program prior to it's professional publication in 2005. In our mentor coaching, you will have the option to work through the various lessons of the program while we simultaneously discuss what you need to know in order to coach your own clients around stengthening their personal foundation.
Focus on Business Building:
If your vision includes creating a successful coaching business, we can also focus on what it will take for you to found, establish and grow your organization. With ten years of experience in this business, as well as 12 prior years in sales and marketing, I find business-building to be big fun. I'm happy to share with you real-world information and coach you to determine important things like your specialty, your niche and your unique message.
